Pogačar recorded his 120th and 121st career victories in Switzerland, and already his 13th win after just 16 race days in the 2026 season.
This year he has already won Strade Bianche, Milano-Sanremo, Tour of Flanders and Liège–Bastogne–Liège. After the Tour de Romandie he added four stage wins, and in Switzerland he took three stages, including the opening stage and Saturday’s time trial.
On the only real mountain test of the race, he checked his form for France and made the decisive move in the final nine kilometres. He crossed the line seven seconds ahead of Lenny Martinez (Bahrain Victorious), while Bart Lemmen (Visma–Lease a Bike) finished third, 1:33 behind.
Primož Roglič (Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe) was 14th on the stage, 3:09 behind his compatriot. Domen Novak, riding for the Emirati team, worked for Pogačar early in the stage before dropping back later.
In the general classification, Pogačar beat Richard Carapaz (EF Education–EasyPost) by 6:32, the largest winning margin in the race since 1959, when Hans Junkermann won by more than ten minutes. Third overall was Mathias Vacek (Lidl–Trek), 6:53 behind, while Roglič finished eighth at 9:23.
The key moment came nine kilometres from the finish, when Pogačar attacked alone in pursuit of the final breakaway riders. At that point Martinez held a lead of around a minute and a half, but Pogačar steadily closed the gap, catching and overtaking him in the final kilometre for his third stage win of the race.
With that, the Slovenian rider completed both his own and his team’s work on a varied Tour de Suisse and showed strong form ahead of the Tour de France, which will start on 4 July in Barcelona with a team time trial.
